@SailWithGreg is Captain Greg’s channel on YouTube and Instagram. Greg Martin hails from San Diego California, growing up sailing around SoCal with family and friends. He loved sailing so much that he joined the Navy, then after realizing that the Navy doesn’t really sail anymore got out to become a school teacher. Greg taught English, Math and Science to kids in Japan but found it was more fun sharing his passion for sailing with friends aboard his first boat, s/v Intrepid, a classic 1967 Bristol 32 that he converted to run with an electric auxiliary propulsion system.
Captain Greg taught ASA sailing courses with the school that he founded, Sail Okinawa, logging thousands of miles sailing around the Ryukyu islands of southern Japan. He would have done that forever but someone made him an offer he couldn’t refuse for s/v Intrepid, so he sold his first beloved boat and left Japan to search for something even more old school.
s/v Gemini, a classic 1964 Alberg 35 was calling his name in Long Beach California and was acquired in January 2013. The plan was to sail s/v Gemini all the way back to Japan to continue the adventure but the route included a stop in Hawaii where one had to ask, why go any further? Sail Okinawa became Sail Hawaii and the adventure continued with s/v Gemini sailing all around the Hawaiian islands. Captain Greg with s/v Gemini inspired and taught ASA courses to thousands of people with thousands of miles safely logged between the Hawaiian islands from 2014 – 2022. Captain Greg sold Sail Hawaii to Pink Sails Waikiki in May 2022 but kept s/v Gemini and continues to sail for fun and occasionally teach sailing when he’s not promoting the best sunglasses for sailing, Lani Shades.
